Rangers leads the way with £15,000 donation to Armed Forces charities
31 May 2023
SSAFA is one of three service organisations to receive a share of £15,000 from the Rangers Charity Foundation (RCF) part of its Armed Forces Fund Partnership for the 2022/23 season.
SSAFA was chosen this year – along with Poppyscotland and Combat Stress – by RCF, which has donated more than £241,000 in cash to Armed Forces and veterans’ charities to date, as well as providing significant in-kind support.
RCF Chief Executive Connal Cochrane said: “We are proud to be able to make this donation to our armed forces charity partners and are very grateful to the Rangers Family who have supported our fundraising efforts to make this possible.
“As Gold Award holders in the MOD’s Employer Recognition Scheme and with a long history of support for our armed forces and veterans, it is very important to us to make a lasting difference via our Armed Forces Fund.
“We also continue our charitable work throughout the year supporting serving personnel and veterans in the community and with the Club, celebrating Armed Forces Day at Ibrox and marking Remembrance at a dedicated match.”
David Black, SSAFA’s Fundraising Development Manager for Scotland, said: “On behalf of the clients of SSAFA in Glasgow, I’m extremely grateful to Rangers Charity Foundation for its generous contribution to our work throughout 2022-2023.
“Funding like this from the Rangers Charity Foundation is driving positive, meaningful, and lasting change that benefits every member of the military family in their time of need in this city.
“Put simply, without the support from Rangers, the impact and reach of our work – which improves and changes lives – would be hampered, and so we greatly appreciate this commitment to SSAFA and its operations.”
