On your bike for SSAFA
18 August 2023
SSAFA's ‘Ride the Plain’ event is being held on the 17 September 2023 at the Royal School of Artillery, Larkhill in Wiltshire.
The event consists of a 30, 60 or 100 mile route around the beautiful Wiltshire countryside, taking in Larkhill military camp before heading out onto the Salisbury Plain Training Area.
It is a great opportunity to get a peek at the inside of Larkhill Camp, which is home to the Royal Artillery Regiment, resplendent with big guns, artillery horse stables, and only a stone’s throw from Stonehenge.
The ride is fully supported with the 30 mile and 60 mile groups getting their own ride captain, who will ensure their team doesn’t get lost, gets plenty of rest stops and has the chance to enjoy the countryside and local landmarks.
There is a 100 mile option for participants that wish to try gain a Personal Best. Last year, the Royal Engineers Cycling and Triathlon team sped around the course beating off all competition both civilian and military and they are signed up again so other teams can challenge them.
Hannah Siddle, Senior Challenge Events Officer said: “This is a fun event, designed for all levels of bike riders. Our friendly team is on hand to help with everything and give you lunch on your return. Everyone gets a SSAFA cycle vest and goodies, but the best part is that you are helping to raise funds for such a deserving cause.”
