School transition

Are you moving schools? How do you feel?

Children/young adults within the military community tend to move homes and schools more than non-military children. Due to this military children are faced with the challenges of meeting new people and building friendships more often.

Having to move is often out of our control, it’s important to bring certain aspects back into our control. This can be achieved by:

📚 researching your new school - looking at what groups/classes they offer

🏡 looking at where your new home will be and what activities they have nearby.

Familiarising yourself with your new surroundings can help the transition process. It’s important to remember that everyone has their own coping mechanisms.
